Romans 8 — Freedom

If God is For Us

Romans 8:31–39

About This Message

Paul could have ended at verse 30 — but he can't stop. He erupts into five rhetorical questions cascading into one of the most powerful declarations in Scripture. If God is for us, who can be against us? Nothing — absolutely nothing — can separate us from the love of God.

I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love — not death or life, not angels or demons, not our fears for today or our worries about tomorrow.
Romans 8:38

Key Points

  1. 1

"If God is for us, who can be against us?" — no one can overturn God's purposes in your life.

  2. 2

He who did not spare His own Son — will He not also freely give us everything else?

  3. 3

"Who will bring charges against God's chosen ones?" — God is the one who justifies. Case dismissed.

  4. 4

"Who can separate us from the love of Christ?" — hardship, persecution, danger, sword — none of it.

  5. 5

"We are more than conquerors through him who loved us." Not in spite of suffering, but through it.
